Topic: Searching for inexpensive housing on Portland's east side!

Hello everyone! big_smile

As the subject line indicates, I want to find a new place to live and I am hoping someone reading this can point me in the right direction. A little cottage/ guest house or studio apartment would be great but I'm happy to rent a room in a house with others. Even something like a nice shed or garage could work well for me!

About me:
- I am a friendly and respectful person with an excellent rental history.
- I am in my earlier 30s and have had a vegan diet for over half of my life.
- Portland has been my home for 4 years and I have worked at my social service job for over 3 years now. I do not see myself leaving either Portland or my job any time soon.
- I am a father but my children will *not* live with me.
- I do not have any companion animals (aka "pets").
- I do not smoke or use any sort of prescribed or "street" drug. On extremely rare occasions, I have been known to drink alcohol in moderation so I am not "straight-edge". I definitely will not be having any rowdy parties!
- What else would you like to know? smile

About what I am looking for:

- It would be great to live in a vegan or at least meat-free house!
- Price-wise, probably no more than $400 total for rent, utilities, etc.
- I'm generally limiting my search to Portland's east side but do not hesitate to tell me about some amazing option elsewhere. I have my preferred areas on the east side but will pretty much need to be close to a major bus line or 2. More specifically, I'd like to live within about 5 blocks of either the #75 (39th Ave) or the #72 (82nd Ave).
- Some sort of private space for me and my stuff, hopefully with a door that locks. I am pretty flexible about what kind of space I end up in provided that it is at least generally safe, fairly clean and likely to keep the weather outside / not on me or my stuff.
- A living situation where my kids could visit and sometimes stay with me for a night or maybe 2. They have their own home with their mom so they would not be with me the majority of the time.

Please get in touch if you know of any possibilities for me! smile
