June 22, 2010

Don Merrick, Election Committee Coordinator

In compliance with the Article 5 of our organizational bylaws, the June 20 potluck included an annual membership meeting to wrap up and announce the election of Board of Directors for a 2-year terms at the start of the upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2010. Six candidates for Board of Directors were on the ballot and all were elected.

Three of the six are current Directors seeking another term: Cindy Koczy, Emily Pepe, and Marsha Rakestraw. The three remaining are new to the Board: Erin Lehn Floresca, Bonnie Hildebrand, and Renee Kennedy. These six will join another six Directors who will complete their 2-year term on June 30, 2011: Deanna Cintas, Eric Day, Keith Iding, Linda Sant'Angelo, Jill Schatz, and Peter Spendelow.

A 12-member Board is the largest in the 7-year history of Northwest VEG. Section 5.2 of the bylaws states, "The Board shall consist of five to fifteen members and these members shall be referred to as directors." At the first meeting of this newly constituted Board, they are charged with determining who among them will serve as officers, President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, for the 2011 fiscal year which starts on July 1, 2010.

Congratulations to the new Board members, and best wishes for a successful and rewarding term.
