Keeping Up with Northwest VEG - Volunteer Opportunities

April 1, 2011

NW VEG would not exist if not for passionate and dedicated volunteers! Whether you're looking for a one-time project or a longer term commitment, there's a good chance we have a match for your interests, skills, and goals. Here are a few featured opportunities:

Eastside Potluck Coordinator
Be in charge of the fun on the 3rd Sunday of every odd numbered month! Organize set-up, clean-up, and welcome diners in-between!

Public Relation/Media Guru
This essential role requires some experience, a fair amount of time, good writing skills, and a strong commitment. Help share NW VEG's offerings with the Portland metro area and beyond!

Business Membership/Discount Program Coordinator
Identify and recruit businesses meeting NW VEG criteria. The purpose of the business and discount programs is to nurture relationships with veg-supportive businesses operating in the Portland-Vancouver area, fostering a mutually beneficial experience for both NW VEG and partners.

VegFest Volunteers
Mark your calendars for September 17 and 18! We need over 300 volunteers to make our 7th annual VegFest a smashing success. We'll also need volunteers to help set up on September 16. One 3-hour shift earns you free admission to BOTH days of VegFest.

Northwest VEG Board Meetings Open to Members!
NW VEG Board of Directors is seeking passionate, creative, motivated, and dedicated volunteers to further the mission, purpose, and objectives of NW VEG. If you're one of our members who'd like to see behind the scenes, join in on Board discussions, and perhaps even explore serving on the Board, we invite you to sit in on a Board meeting or two. For those potentially interested in Board positions, qualifications include:

  • current NW VEG membership
  • availability to attend board meetings on the 2nd Saturday monthly
  • availability to volunteer a minimum of 5 hours monthly in addition to board meetings
Members are always welcome to attend and give input at our Board meetings, with advance notice. Our next two meetings will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 9 and Saturday, May 14. To learn more or to RSVP, please contact interim NW VEG secretary Jill Schatz at Jill@nwveg.org.
