| Jeans Day brings donation from Capital Pacific Bank |
| April 27, 2009 |
Northwest VEG recently received two unexpected donations from Capital Pacific Bank, a Portland-based commercial bank serving local businesses and non-profits, and their employees.
On the last Friday of each month (and whenever a community need arises), employees of Capital Pacific Bank hold what they call "Jeans Day," when employees can come to work dressed casually, provided they make a small donation to benefit local non-profit groups. Northwest VEG member Becky Kent nominated Northwest VEG as the recipient of these donations for January Jeans Day, and so we became the recipient of a nice $300 donation ($150 employee donation and $150 bank match). Later, Northwest VEG received another $100 donation from Capital Pacific Bank, as a matching grant for volunteer work done for Northwest VEG by Becky.
Capital Pacific Bank provides seminars and other services to non-profits, including organizing a recent well-attended panel discussion on strategies to guide non-profits through the economic crisis.
