VegFest: A Whole Lot of Fun for the Whole Family

September 3, 2012

Get the family ready, because this year's VegFest will have exciting activities happening all weekend for children AND teens!

Be sure to check out the Teen Area at VegFest this year! There will be a “Flesh is for Zombies” photo booth this year! Get made up like zombies by our makeup artists (more needed!) and then improvise with your friends and our gory props to create some memorable VegFest keepsakes.

Representatives and material from peta2 and Vegan Outreach will also be there to share how you can get more involved as a young activist. PLUS there will be a raffle bag filled with cool goodies from PETA, a copy of the new vegan vampire thriller Out of Breath, posters, and more!

In addition to all this, we're hoping to have a bike blender for some "wheely good" smoothies, so please email chelsea@nwveg.org if you own one or know someone who does. If you're a teen who has more ideas or wants to help organize, we'd love your input!

And then in the children’s area, we are please to be welcoming back Rick Reynolds, author of The Evergreen Twins Activity Book, who will be assisting kids in brain-stretching Eco-doku puzzles, Pollination Mazes, Worm Bin Magic and much more! The children's area will also have classic favorites like face painting, fun crafts and story time, plus Veggie Twister and a chance to play the new Fur & Feathers board game.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP:

  • Spread the word to kids, teens, parents, and educators that VegFest is fun for all ages!
  • Volunteer to organize or help with activities and decorations before or during VegFest.
  • Donate or lend supplies such as a bike blender, veg books and cookbooks for young people, face paint, makeup and supplies, veg games, decorations and props for the photo booth.

To volunteer, donate materials, or share ideas for kids and teen activities, please email Chelsea Davis, Northwest VEG's Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, at volunteer@nwveg.org.
