By Trista Cornelius, Contributing Writer

After struggling with her weight for 30 years, Lani Muelrath turned to a plant-based diet and exercise to lose 50 pounds.

“Our body’s natural state is vitality,” Lani says, “we want to be well.” And yet, it takes effort. Lani explains that we can increase or diminish our body’s potential not only by how we eat, but also by how we move, “or don’t move.” She warns, you can’t out-train a bad diet. Exercise is great, a plant-based diet is great, but one without the other is not enough. Additionally, how you think is important too, “stress also drains our energy reserves.”

Lani helps people restore their equilibrium and reclaim vitality through food, fitness, and frame of mind. Her favorite motto is “Change your mind, change your body, change your life.”

She’s living proof that her motto works. Lani has kept the weight off for fifteen years and has turned her experience into expertise as a plant-based fitness expert.

Lani earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education, a certification in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University, certification as a fitness instructor from the American Council on Exercise, and a fitness nutrition specialist credential from the National academy of Sports Medicine.

Eager to share her personal experience and knowledge, Lani published Fit Quickies: 5 Minute Targeted Body Shaping Workouts, created Lani Muelrath's Plant-Based Blueprint, serves as a celebrity coach for the 21-Day PCRM Vegan Kickstart and VegRun Programs, and is the Fitness Adviser for the Dr. John McDougall Health and Medical Center Discussion Boards.

Impressive credentials aside, Lani boils her approach down to this: Eat more plants and move your body. As many of us know, this can be harder than it sounds, but if anyone an motivate us, it’s Lani Muelrath.

You can glean some inspiration and fitness wisdom from Lani at VegFest in September where she will be giving two presentations: The 5-Minute Fitness Solution and How to Carve Your Figure With Your Fork and Other Secrets to Weight Loss Success.
