Thanks for participating in Northwest VEG's inaugural event!

This 5K/10K fundraising trail run/walk was held in Portland's Forest Park on Saturday, July 10, 2010.


Race Results:

  1. 5K Overall
  2. 5K Age Group
  3. 10K Overall
  4. 10K Age Group

Where?

The race will take place in Forest Park. It will begin and end in Lower Macleay Park, NW 29th Ave. & Upshur St., Portland, OR 97210. The course will mainly be on the popular and scenic Wildwood Trail.

When?

Saturday, July 10, 2010 (10K: 8:30 AM; 5K: 9:00 AM)

Who can participate?

This event is open to everyone of all ages and abilities. Runners, hikers, and walkers of all paces are encouraged to participate! Please leave your furry friends at home.

Why?

The mission of this event is to generate awareness to a plant-based   lifestyle and to raise money for Northwest VEG's education and outreach campaigns.

Donations:

Although not required, participants can go the extra mile and raise additional funds for this event. Prizes will be awarded to the entrants with the highest donation totals. Click here to download a Donation Form.

Event Details:

  • 10K start time: 8:30 AM
  • 5K start time: 9:00 AM
  • Bib Pick-Up (Saturday, July 10): 7:30-8:45 AM
  • Aid Stations: There will be one aid station at the start/finish in lower Macleay Park. And one aid station with water along the 10K course on Aspen Avenue. The 5K will not have an aid station along the course.
  • Post Run Picnic: there will be fruit, energy bars and refreshments for all race participants. Generously donated by Whole Foods Market, Organically Grown Company, Dave's Killer Bread, ProBar, and Larabar.
  • Awards: While awards will be given to the first female and male finishers in each age group, this event is really all about fun, saving animals and the environment!

Transportation:


TriMet directions:
Line 17 and line 15 stop at NW Thurman & 27th which is 0.2 miles from Lower Macleay Park.
The best way to plan a TriMet route would be to use the TriMet website: http://trimet.org
Use NW 29th Ave. & Upshur St. as your destination address.

Biking:
Bike parking is located near the trail head next to the restrooms.

Parking:
Participants and volunteers can park at the Montgomery Park Building located at 2701 NW Vaughn St., Portland, OR. (A 3-4 minute walk from the start/finish line.) There is also neighborhood parking available within a few blocks.

Day-of-Event Instructions:

A simple course map and directions will be given out at check-in. In addition, the course will be marked with ribbons along the route.
