Cage-Free, Free-Range, Humane…What Do the Labels Really Mean? We are very pleased to have Hope Bohanec, Executive Director of Compassionate Living, host of the Hope for the Animals podcast, and editor of the new book The Humane Hoax, as the presenter following our regular westside potluck. Humanewashing and greenwashing are becoming more pervasive than ever. Hope will talk about how animal agriculture’s new marketing and labeling is lulling consumers into a false sense that the industry is improving, when the reality is something very different.
You can come just to the potluck at 5:00 pm, Hope’s presentation which will start at 6:15 pm, or both. For the potluck, please bring a plant-based (no meat, eggs, dairy, honey, or other animal products) main dish, salad, or dessert; a card listing its ingredients; and plates and utensils for your use. You can make the dish yourself or bring store-bought food. If you come alone, figure the amount to serve 4-6; increase the amount 4 servings for each additional person in your party/family. Northwest VEG potlucks are alcohol-free events.
