Northwest VEG Westside Potluck

  • West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship 8470 Southwest Oleson Road Portland, OR, 97223 United States (map)

Enjoy great food at the potluck and/or learn about the changes coming as Oregon implements its new recycling law starting July 1.  Peter Spendelow, past President of Northwest VEG and 40-year Waste Reduction Specialist at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, will talk about how the Oregon Recycling Modernization Act will change what happens with our recyclables and will add new recycling opportunities and unify collection programs throughout the state. The new programs will be paid for in large part by the producers of packaging, printed paper, and food serviceware.  Oregon is the first state in the nation to implement producer responsibility legislation for these materials.

Just prior to the program, Northwest VEG will hold a short annual membership meeting, announce the results of the Northwest VEG board election, and give a brief update on the status of the organization and upcoming events. You can come just to the potluck at 5:00 pm, the annual meeting and program which will start at 6:15 pm, or both.

For the potluck, please bring a plant-based (no meat, eggs, dairy, honey, or other animal products) main dish, salad, or dessert; a card listing its ingredients; and plates and utensils for your use. You can make the dish yourself or bring store-bought food. If you come alone, figure the amount to serve 4-6; increase the amount 4 servings for each additional person in your party/family. Northwest VEG potlucks are alcohol-free events.
