Virginia Messina, MPH, RD, explains how the ethical argument for going vegan is the most persuasive way to ensure that people not only become vegan, but also stay vegan. She notes that helping people go vegan is great. But it’s meaningless if we can’t help them stay vegan. Unfortunately, more than 80% of vegetarians/vegans abandon their diet. We run the risk of losing vegans (and vegetarians) when we skip over discussions about ethics.
